ABOUT ME
Driven and Inquisitive.
I am a Robotics Engineer with a First Class BEng degree, that likes to make sure things work in practise.
My 12 year career in the Danish army has seen this put to the test.
Having had hands on experience as a tank driver and having an understanding of what is needed on the ground has had a direct impact on current projects when determining product requirements as well as possible solutions.
On my last deployment with Military Intelligence, I led an elite team of special forces, using classified software and hardware to monitor and analyse enemy communications.
I'm a self-starter with a passion for programming, 3D CAD and mobile robots. I'm equally motivated by project managing, coding or prototyping in the workshop.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Autonomous Devices LTD, Milton Keynes, UK
Robotics Engineer
2019-present
We produce game-changing unmanned aerial robotic systems that deliver critical insights and effects in defence, security, energy and earth science.
My main responsibilities are:
-
Research
-
3D CAD
-
Rapid prototyping
-
Integration of subsystems
YUYU Designs, London, UK
RPA Consultant
2019-2020
Since I finished my Bachelor, I started freelancing.
My recent efforts have automating tasks for YUYU:
-
Built a server with the Linux based OS Proxmox.
-
Server is protected by a dedicated pfSense firewall
-
Server hosts VMs running RPA automatons
-
Saves over 2000 man-hours annually.
MILITARY INTELLIGENCE, DENMARK
Electronic Warfare operator
2012-2015
Most of my activities here are classified.
However, the highlights are:
-
Learned to use equipment and methods to intercept multiple forms of communication
-
Made a VBA program that could reduce analyst workload by about 80%
-
Deployed to Somalia with the Danish Navy
ARMOURED INFANTRY, DENMARK
Driver and Infantryman
2008 - 2012
This is where I spent the bulk of my time in the army:
-
Used various equipment and weapons including electronic countermeasures, thermal optics, heavy machine guns and recoil-less rifles.
-
Operated and maintained various armoured vehicles in harsh climates and hostile situations, including IFV's (CV9035), APC's (M113A2) and MRAP (Cougar 6x6).
-
Monitored and engaged with radio communications across several specialised units and leadership levels simultaneously
-
Two 6 month deployments to Afghanistan in the Helmand province, bordering the Taliban training camps in the Pakistani mountains
SIGNALS REGIMENT, DENMARK
Communications specialist
2007 - 2008
This included my initial basic training and a chosen speciality of communications.
I learned to set up and operate networks of directional antennas and radios that provided a reliable (by redundant communication paths), yet secure network for the Danish Army.
The system was modular and mobile, allowing a network to quickly be dismantled and reestablished elsewhere within hours.
Prior to my career in the Danish Army, I have had diverse jobs in Denmark and Iceland, some of which include:
-
Private tutor for A-level students in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
-
Salesman in a large electronics store
-
Truck driver during the construction of an aluminium factory
-
Landscaper and gravedigger at a cemetery
-
Refurbished and worked at a metal working company that was rebuilding after a fire
-
Freelance tree surgeon and landscaping
Recently I have designed and laser cut the packaging of a successful Kickstarter project.
